The Gift Of Easter

Along with Christmas, where we celebrate the birth of Jesus, Easter is one ofthe most important celebrations in the Christian faith. At Easter we remember God’s love for us as explained in John 3:16 “God loved the people of this world so muchthat He gave his only Son, so that everyone who has faith in Him will haveeternal life and never really die”At Easter, Christians remember the crucifixion, death and burial of Jesus.Jesus died for us. This is explained in Isaiah 53: 4 & 5; “It was our suffering He took on Himself; He bore our pain. But we thought that God was punishing Him, that God was beating Him for something He did. But He was being punished for what we did. He was crushed because of our guilt. He took the punishment we deserved, and this brought us peace. We were healed because of His pain”.We also celebrate and give thanks for His resurrection three days later when Jesus rose from the grave. By this, He conquered death, redeemed us from our sin and made the way for us to come into relationship with God. That way is to believe Jesus died for us. Romans 10:9 If you confess with your mouth “Jesus is Lord” and in your heart you have faith that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.2 Corinthians 5:21 says the way to God is through Jesus; Christ had no sin. But God made him become sin. God did this for us so that in Christ we could become right with GodWe have assurance of eternal life in heaven because of what it says in Romans 8:11 God raised Jesus from death. And if God’s Spirit is living in you, then He will also give life to your bodies that die. God is the One who raised Christ from death. And He will give life through His Spirit that lives in you.God wants to be in a loving, caring relationship with you in Isaiah  30:18 it says; The Lord is waiting to show his mercy to you. He wants to rise and comfort you. The Lord is the God who does the right thing, so He will bless everyone who waits for his help.In Galatians 6:20 we learn about giving up our old way of living and gaining a new way of living through Jesus living in us; I was put to death on the cross with Christ, and I do not live anymore—it is Christ who lives in me. I still live in my body, but I live by faith in the Son of God who loved me and gave himself to save me.By accepting Jesus as your Saviour, your sins are forgiven, you receive eternal life in heaven and you receive the Holy Spirit, to help and guide you through your days on earth. In John 14:25 it says; I have told you all these things while I am with you. But the Helper will teach you everything and will cause you to remember all that I told you. This Helper is the Holy Spirit whom the Father will send in my name.
Jesus provided the way to our salvation. Salvation means our soul is connected with God and protected from harm. It means we will spend eternity with God in heaven. Jesus promised that in John 11:25; Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. Those who believe in me will have life even if they die.”You can accept Jesus and have a personal relationship with Him, eternal life in heaven and a life full of hope by believing what it says in Romans 10:9 “If you confess with your mouth “Jesus is Lord” and in your heart you have faith that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved”, The hope we gain is told in 1st Peter 1:3; “Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. In God’s great mercy He has caused us to be born again into a living hope, because Jesus Christ rose from the dead”.1st Corinthians 6:14 says “And God will raise our bodies from death with the same power He used to raise the Lord Jesus”.Romans 8:11 gives us another promise; “God raised Jesus from death. And if God’s Spirit is living in you, then He will also give life to your bodies that die. God is the One who raised Christ from death. And He will give life through His Spirit that lives in you2nd Corinthians 5:10 says this about heaven “We know that our body, the tent we live in here on earth will be destroyed. But when that happens, God will have a house for us. It will not be a house made by human hands; instead, it will be a home in heaven that will last forever.Ephesians 2: 4 & 5 explains salvation isn’t earned, it’s a gift of grace that we just have to accept. “God’s mercy is so abundant, and His love for us is so great, that while we were spiritually dead in our disobedience He brought us to life with Christ. It is by God’s grace that you have been saved.”

A New Life, Fresh Start And Eternal Life

We celebrate Easter because by believing in Jesus we can let go of our past and enter a future where we dedicate our life to Jesus and give God loving and caring control of it.As it says in Jeremiah 29:11; “I know what I am planning for you, says the Lord. I have good plans for you, not plans to hurt you. I will give you hope and a good future’. Your past is forgiven, and you have a new fresh start; 2nd Corinthians 5:17, “If anyone belongs to Christ, there is a new creation. The old things have gone; everything is made new!”Ephesians 2:10 says “It is God who has worked in us to make us what we are. He has given us a new life because we are united with Christ Jesus. He saved us so that now we can do good things in our lives. Those are good things that he has already prepared for us to do.”We also receive guidance and help from the Holy Sprit. 2nd Timothy 1:7 says For the Spirit that God has given us does not make us afraid; instead, His Spirit fills us with power, love, and self-controlThe Holy Spirit influences and directs us to do good. In Galatians 5:22 we’re told; But when the Holy Spirit controls our lives He will produce this kind of fruit in us: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness. Through Jesus, you can have a life of freedom and hope and live eternally in heaven. God wants to bless you and care for you. God will use you to be a blessing to others. What Jesus did at Easter by being crucified, buried and rising to life again 3 days later makes it all possible.
If you would like to receive the gift of salvation God offers you, sincerely pray this prayer.Dear God, I come to you to ask for your forgiveness from my old way of life. I believe your son Jesus was crucified and died on the cross to pay for my sins and rose three days later conquering death and making eternal life with you possible. I turn from my old life and surrender it to you. I accept your gift of salvation and eternal life that Jesus made possible through your love, mercy and grace. I ask for a new life through Jesus Christ and I give you control of it. Thank you, God for forgiving me and making me brand new.
Once you accept Jesus as your Savior you come into relationship with God, who becomes your loving Heavenly Father who will give you eternal life, forgiveness for your past sins, and hope, guidance and support the rest of your days.
