Along with Christmas, where we celebrate the birth of Jesus, Easter is one ofthe most important celebrations in the Christian faith. At Easter we remember God’s love for us as explained in John 3:16 “God loved the people of this world so muchthat He gave his only Son, so that everyone who has faith in Him will haveeternal life and never really die”At Easter, Christians remember the crucifixion, death and burial of Jesus.Jesus died for us. This is explained in Isaiah 53: 4 & 5; “It was our suffering He took on Himself; He bore our pain. But we thought that God was punishing Him, that God was beating Him for something He did. But He was being punished for what we did. He was crushed because of our guilt. He took the punishment we deserved, and this brought us peace. We were healed because of His pain”.We also celebrate and give thanks for His resurrection three days later when Jesus rose from the grave. By this, He conquered death, redeemed us from our sin and made the way for us to come into relationship with God. That way is to believe Jesus died for us. Romans 10:9 If you confess with your mouth “Jesus is Lord” and in your heart you have faith that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.2 Corinthians 5:21 says the way to God is through Jesus; Christ had no sin. But God made him become sin. God did this for us so that in Christ we could become right with GodWe have assurance of eternal life in heaven because of what it says in Romans 8:11 God raised Jesus from death. And if God’s Spirit is living in you, then He will also give life to your bodies that die. God is the One who raised Christ from death. And He will give life through His Spirit that lives in you.God wants to be in a loving, caring relationship with you in Isaiah 30:18 it says; The Lord is waiting to show his mercy to you. He wants to rise and comfort you. The Lord is the God who does the right thing, so He will bless everyone who waits for his help.In Galatians 6:20 we learn about giving up our old way of living and gaining a new way of living through Jesus living in us; I was put to death on the cross with Christ, and I do not live anymore—it is Christ who lives in me. I still live in my body, but I live by faith in the Son of God who loved me and gave himself to save me.By accepting Jesus as your Saviour, your sins are forgiven, you receive eternal life in heaven and you receive the Holy Spirit, to help and guide you through your days on earth. In John 14:25 it says; I have told you all these things while I am with you. But the Helper will teach you everything and will cause you to remember all that I told you. This Helper is the Holy Spirit whom the Father will send in my name.
